Hello! My name is Isaac, and I am offering tutorials for both the sciences and Spanish to anyone studying KS3 or GCSE.
I am available to work the evenings of Mondays to Thursdays, and I occasionally have availability on Fridays and the weekends should there be a desire for ad hoc changes/additions. Once tutorials have been booked in, they are protected in my calendar and receive my utmost dedication.
Every tutorial will have a written report provided within 48 hours if desired.
Please, if you are interested in employing me as a tutor, book me in for a meeting or send me a message directly. I’d be more than happy to help!
Over the last ten years, I have amassed a great deal of experience in education, with four years working in schools and colleges, two years as a science teacher in a comprehensive school, numerous years in various tuition centres and websites, and even some time working in the Spanish/Catalan education system. The main culmination of my experience is my PGCE which was awarded to me in July 2022.
With all my experience, I have built up a large set of resources, techniques, and explanations which have a track record of pushing tens of students achieve the highest grades. Moreover, from my PGCE and current positions in some of the highest achieving educational centres in the country, I am continuously keeping up to date with the developments of metacognitive research and its implications for teaching practice.
Whether sciences or Spanish, I would be delighted to work with any student looking to improve their grade. A helping hand from somebody experienced and encouraging is sometimes all that is needed to push a student from uncertainty to success.
All of my tutorials are thoroughly planned in advance and with specific targets in mind. I utilise resources that target misconceptions and misunderstandings, questions that ensure content has been appropriately understood and applied, and exam practice that will allow the most commonly tested skills to be practised enough to become habit.
One of the main challenges for a classroom teacher is having an appropriate amount of time to address exam technique and work on a specific students’ barriers to gaining marks. I therefore make targeted practice a recurrent part of my tutorials to allow my students the space to apply their learning. Without the opportunity and guidance on how best to apply learning to the stringent requirements of exam boards, students cannot expect to see their work pay off.
Beyond tutorials, I also offer the option of homework for those who can practise further and reinforce their learning. Flashcard making, practice questions, and directed study are all examples of work I have set in the past with success for student understanding.
