I am a friendly person who really enjoys explaining things to people. I have chosen to work as a tutor, although I could make more money with a different career (I have done that!), so that I can have a job that I really enjoy, and that makes a strong positive difference to my students. I have a 1st class degree in Mathematics from Oxford University, so I understand Mathematics well. I also have an A-grade A-level in Physics (before A* existed); and have improved my knowledge beyond A-level standard since then.

Tutoring Approach

I work with pupils, from their current strengths to resolve their problems, wherever they may be.
I do not attempt to cover the whole syllabus (unless necessary); only those parts my pupils do not understand.
I am a friendly, approachable tutor. I can set homework; but prefer to have pupils who are sufficiently motivated to study alone, but who may well need direction.
Past papers have their place, and I do use them; but not excessively.
I aim to emphasise links between different branches of a subject, and between different subjects; and try to emphasise where my subjects will apply to my pupil's chosen careers.
