I am a previous Head of Maths and Economics with over 19 years’ teaching experience, looking to step back from leadership/management roles to focus on teaching and tutoring. As an outstanding teacher, I have a proven track record in KS3 Maths, GCSE Maths, A Level Maths, Further Maths, A Level Economics, all abilities, ages 11-18. I use adaptive teaching to account for all types of learners, have strong behaviour management skills, and build relationships with students based on mutual respect. My preference is for A Level teaching and Further Maths. I hold an Economics degree with 1st class honours from Brunel University and a PGCE in Mathematics from the University of Oxford.
I use an adaptative approach to teaching, finding out what students' strengths and weaknesses are and using this knowledge to build a curriculum around. This allows me to provide stretch and challenge for all learners. I build effective relationships with students based on mutual respect and instil an enjoyment and love for the subject in them (I have doubled the A Level Maths intake in several schools I worked at). I focus on real-life applications of Maths and Economics and have a wide range of resources available to help and support learners. I strongly believe in building transparent relationships with families and working together to best support their child.
