Iain

Online Physics Tutoring

I am a Physics teacher based in the West End of Glasgow. I am passionate about Physics and always strive to instill a similar enthusiasm in my students. In my spare time I am a keen chess player. I hold the FIDE Master title and have represented Scotland at full international level.

Tutoring Experience

I have over 20 years of experience teaching at Higher and Advanced Higher level, with an outstanding record of success. I am the Lead Tutor at the AH Physics Practicals for Glasgow. In 2015 one of my students was awarded the Higgs Prize for the top performance in the AH Physics exam by a pupil from a state school in Scotland. I received the 2012 Inspirational Teacher Award from MIT.

Tutoring Approach

First I identify where a student’s strengths and weaknesses lie, then build on the strengths and work on eliminating the weaknesses. I believe one of my main attributes as a teacher is that I am a very clear communicator. Once my students fully understand a concept their confidence improves and with it their level of performance and enjoyment of the subject.
