I received a First Class grade from the Queen's College, Oxford University for my undergraduate, and a Distinction for my postgraduate at Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge University. I graduated top of my class in both, being awarded the Graduate Tutor's Prize at Cambridge and receiving the highest Final grade on Oxford's record for the Classical Archaeology module 'Achaemenid History'. I currently work as an ancient history/ancient languages instructor at the British Museum and at City Lit. I have published my research and recently discovered the earliest archaeological evidence of Buddhism in Egypt (and possibly the West), which is due to be academically published soon. I know 6 ancient languages to an advanced level; as my research focus is Greco-Roman Egypt, these include Latin, Greek, and Egyptian.
Formerly a full-time private tutor for children, I now also teach a range of ages in the British Museum and at City Lit - a position I earned due to demonstrable teaching skill and experience. My teaching skills have benefited from experience, from a passion for teaching subjects I adore, and from City Lit training for online education skills. Helping my students get into elite schools and universities, I also formerly taught high school students in Tokyo. Before university, I attended Winchester College, where I received top grades including Pre-U D2s (A-Level equivalent: high A*) in Latin, Greek, and Art History. I also teach the ancient Egyptian language, a fun and fascinating skill that looks great on university applications (especially if applying to Classics/archaeology/etc).
I am upbeat, warm, and extremely passionate about the ancient world. I aim to transfer this passion to my students and equip them with the skills and knowledge required for achieving their goals and engaging with this fascinating subject area. I tailor each lesson to the client's needs and ensure an open dialogue with parents and guardians so that feedback can be exchanged and lessons can be well-tailored to the student's requirements. Alongside my own warmer, more individualised approach, I employ tools and teaching techniques used at Winchester College and the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge. I am available to hold classes in the British Museum, using the collections to facilitate the student's learning. I teach individuals as well as groups for an additional fee. Please get in touch if you would like to know more - the first lesson is free so you can tell if I am the right fit.
