Maths and Physics Lessons in Oxford

Tech start-up founder, school teacher, university scientist. These were my last 3 jobs and each adds value to my tutoring:

  • University Scientist: Academic excellence and knowledge of cutting edge science.
  • Teacher: An understanding of pedagogy, the school curriculum and how to get the best out of my students.
  • Startup founder: Science, maths & programming in action as we aimed to tackle reading for the visually impaired

Plus I got a First in Physics from St Andrews University :)

Hobbies: Tennis, chess, football, making music

Tutoring Approach

• Student-centred: By first understanding where the student is at, I tailor my approach to their needs.
• Confidence is key: I often meet pupils whose confidence was damaged by the classroom environment and thus offer plenty of encouragement and meaningful support.
• Practice makes perfect: Using well selected exercises that meet the pupil at their point in the learning journey and guide them forwards.
• Motivation is crucial to unlocking the effort required to succeed. Knowing why it is important and how it is used in the real world can really help.
• Genuine enthusiasm for the subject matter - passion is contagious!
• Instil a love of learning by making the whole process enjoyable.
