Skilled and versatile teacher with a variety of tuition experience including music theory, general music, singing and trumpet. I am a graduate music teacher and boarding assistant at Ashfold Prep School. I recently graduated with First Class Honours from Durham University where I was awarded the Eve Myra Kisch prize for outstanding academic excellence. I was also a recipient of both the Vice-Chancellor award for music performance (3 years) and the Vice-Chancellor award for academic excellence (1 year).
I have excellent writing and communication skills and can also offer proof-reading and writing advice for humanities and arts-based essays. I have experience with children ages 4-10 but am comfortable tutoring all ages (up to and including Sixth Form).
Currently a music teacher for years 4-5 at Ashfold School, I have previously done 1-to-1 and small group performance teaching at The Brass Academy (age 8-18) as well as being a volunteer teaching assistant at Broadchalke Primary School. I teach individual trumpet and do choir singing coaching within my teaching role.
I am a strong believer that if you are not passionate you won't progress to your full potential. I am to instill desire to learn more about each subject so that pupils eventually push themselves to work. I believe that fundamentals are too often rushed at school-level which is why I like to maintain a balance between foundational learning and wider contextual learning to maintain interest whilst consolidating core knowledge.
