Hok Ling

Titus Lam, a Hong Kong-born violinist and four-time gold prize winner in various music competitions, is currently pursuing a Master of Violin Performance at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) under the guidance of international artists Callum Smart and Cecily Ward. He has also participated in masterclasses, orchestras, and chamber music coaching with renowned musicians including Yair Kless, Joshua Bell, Mats Zetterqvist, Henk Guittart, Patrick Yim, Jorma Panula, and Anthony Hermes.

Lam received his Bachelor of Arts in Music from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) in 2021, where he studied under the tutelage of Gallant Ho Ka-Leung. Additionally, he studied piano with Steinway Artist Dr. Kiu Tung Poon at CUHK.

Since 2017, Lam has been teaching violin and viola to both individuals and groups at several music academies, primary and secondary schools.

Tutoring Experience

Lam started teaching in 2017 and have worked at different music academies across Hong Kong such as Kinderland Studio and Parson Music. I have conducted group classes of varying sizes ranging from 5 to 20 students in different primary and secondary schools. The lessons are mainly conducted in Cantonese and English. The levels of my students range from beginners to Grade 8, and they have a 100% passing rate in the ABRSM grade exams.

In 2021, Lam moved to Manchester and began teaching at Levii Academy and Aura Music Academy, where Lam teaches both violin and viola to students of all levels

Tutoring Approach

During my studies at CUHK, I chose pedagogy as my capstone project and created two websites for this project on Piano pedagogy (https://lamhokling990327.wixsite.com/website) and Violin pedagogy (https://lamhokling990327.wixsite.com/website-1). Additionally, I wrote a twenty-thousand word thesis on Violin Pedagogy and the different violin methods written by the greatest pedagogues of the past as my final thesis.
