I am based in Downham Market, Norfolk and semi-retired in the summer of this year (2024).
My teaching approach has always enabled children to achieve their full potential and make great progress. I have been subject leader for Science and Forest School. I enjoy walking my dog, yoga and fitness training, as well as spending time with my grandchildren.
I am an experienced Primary School Teacher and have been teaching for 20 years in state and independent schools in Norfolk. I have taught all subjects in the curriculum across the age range: 4 - 11 years of age.
In 2022, I decided to transition from classroom teaching to tutoring to improve my work-life balance. Since then, I have been tutoring English and Mathematics in homes, schools, and online, helping young students achieve their full potential, including preparation for Year 6 SATs and 11+ entrance exams.
I have a solid understanding of the educational needs of students, particularly in developing their English and Mathematics skills. Alongside this, I have a strong belief in the social and emotional needs of students. A holistic view of learning is one which I believe creates the most success. In July 2023, I have completed the Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Children and Young People's Mental Health NCFE.
More recently, I am really enjoying tutoring an international student who is based in China.
My approach has always been to involve students in real life experiences, where possible, so that learning is relevant and meaningful. I provide a bespoke learning package which is tailored to an individual’s learning needs. I believe in integrating English and Mathematics skills with fun and engaging activities such as: board games, cooking and art.
I have a strong pedagogical knowledge; a comprehensive understanding of educational psychology and effective teaching methodologies tailored to diverse learning needs. A proven ability to teach and improve students' competencies in both subjects, with a track record of successful student outcomes.
I am a positive and confident practitioner who is driven to succeed. I believe my approach to learning is infectious with the young learners I teach. My philosophy of inspire, engage and challenge are the foundations for my tuition business. I am very lucky to have a vocation which has a positive impact on young learners and makes a difference.
