Having spent many years working in theatre, writing, acting, directing and stage managing, I returned to education as a mature student, graduating from the Lincoln School of Performing Arts (LSPA) at the University of Lincoln with an honours degree in Drama. During my studies, I undertook a number of specialisms including Twentieth Century American Drama, Aspects of Acting, Early Modern Drama, Theatre and Consciousness and Restoration to Melodrama. Following graduation, I began teaching speech and drama privately and became a member of the Society of Teachers of Speech and Drama (STSD). In addition, I hold certificates from the London Academy of Music and Drama (LAMDA) in Acting (Honours), Guildhall School of Music and Drama in Speech and Drama (Merit) and Prose Reading (Honours). I have also recently achieved a Masters in Drama at the University of Lincoln.
Please note, I am not a speech therapist.
I have been helping students with drama tuition, English skills, confidence, performance and presentation skills since I formed Lincoln School of Speech and Drama. I have taken students through Trinity certificates, provided drama coaching, English tuition and also confidence and voice coaching.
I have a relaxed, informal approach to tutoring, although commitment and drive is required. Sessions are tailored to meet the needs and desires of the student, whether that is working towards Trinity certificates or more general work on drama skills, performance and voice techniques, improvisation or audition and presentation preparation. I work with adults and children and aim to make the sessions as fun and enjoyable as possible using games, workshops and themes.
