I am a dedicated and hard-working tutor who believes everybody can succeed if they want to. Students learn at different rates and that is completely normal but can affect students’ confidence which I am wary of. My aim is to encourage students to want to succeed through positivity, humour and support.

Tutoring Experience

I have been tutoring for 6 years and have a first class honors degree in primary education with mathematics specialism. I am currently the head of KS3 mathematics at my current secondary school and have taught a wide range of pupils from grades 1-9 so am capable of teaching students from a variety of different backgrounds and abilities.

Tutoring Approach

Building positive relationships with pupils is vital to increase their confidence and so they are open to confide in their difficulties which makes it easier to support pupils.

I break larger topics into smaller, more manageable steps and go at a pace that best suits the pupil. Every lesson is different because every pupil is different. I ask questions in different contexts, different ways and with increasing difficulty to ensure students gain a thorough understanding of each topic for longer term learning and enables them to problem solve easier.

Lessons are tailored for each student so I only focus on topics the student is struggling with. Together we reflect on the students’ previous assessments to enable students to understand their own learning and we work on weaker areas. However, if a student needs help with the current topic they are learning in school or they have an assessment approaching, we will focus on this instead.
