Enthusiastic current History teacher in Wakefield/ Huddersfield area with 13 years experience teaching and examining.
I have tutored for 5 years - In 2024 by A-Level tutees achieved an A*, A and B respectively. In 2023 my A-Level pupils all achieved grade B-A* and my GCSE pupils both achieved a grade 9.
Fully qualified with QTS and currently teaching a local, well regarded college. I also am a lead examiner for GCSE and an examiner for AQA and edexcel A-LEVEL.
I have a 2:1 degree in History and politics from Sheffield University.

Tutoring Experience

I have taught A level and GCSE History for OCR, AQA and Edexcel for the last 8 years in Germany, South Africa, USA, Russia and Tudors, Germany 1871-1991 and religion in Tudor England. Also civil rights in the USA.
Can tutor in different History topics for all different exam boards at GCSE or A-Level.
I currently mark A Level papers for Edexcel - South Africa, AQA Russia and GCSE Edexcel Henry viii and Nazi Germany and have also marked for USA 1917-45.
A-level specialisms are: History of USA, Germany 1871-1991, The Cold War, War of the Roses, Tudor England, South Africa, Russia 1855-1990, Anglo Saxons and Norman Conquest, civil rights in the USA.
GCSE specialisms: Henry viii, Elizabeth, Medicine, Nazi Germany, American West, Origins of WW1, Origins of WW2 and the Cold War
I can also teach other topics as requested.
Happy to travel in local area. Can provide past papers, resources, podcasts and many other resources including my personally made ones. My experience marking for 11 years is incredibly useful in getting the most marks from the papers being studied and this has led to my success in teaching pupils successfully in achieving their targets.

Tutoring Approach

I am fully flexible and like to make use of technology. For A-Level I focus a lot on essay planning and the ability to plan essays in a short space of time can be difficult. I try not to spend too much time on simply knowledge acquisition as History requires not just knowledge but the evaluation and analysis of it. I do provide my tutees with bespoke revision resources and booklets to aid their personal revision which as visually appealing to engage learners.
