I am passionate about learning and enjoy developing my knowledge. I am hard working but feel that to really remember facts you have to understand the reasons for learning them.
I have over 15 years teaching experience in a secondary schools where I developed a range of techniques to teach and engage with pupils. I taught Geography, maths and forest school and was fortunate enough to take trips around the world to enthuse students about the world in which we live. I have also tutored a number of geography students at A-level, with particular emphasis on exam techniques and case studies. Recently I have taught in a specialist school for pupils with dyslexia and co-occurring difficulties. This has made me think differently to explain ideas and concepts in various and creative ways.
I have a flexible approach to tutoring where I am able to gauge how pupils learn and adapt my teaching style to suit each individual. I like to get an understanding of each pupil's strengths and areas they enjoy as well as tackle topics they find more challenging.
