I am a third year History and Politics student studying at Lancaster University in the North West. I am passionate about the power of knowledge and learning, and view education as the pathway to a fulfilling life. I love reading, volunteering and learning new skills - currently I am picking up knitting!
I am also available to provide mentoring for Extended Project Qualifications from choosing the subject matter to submission.
I am able to tutor online, at the Lancaster University Library or the Lancaster Central Library in town. Other venues can be discussed.
I have tutored up a GCSE level before as an A Level student, and I am excited to start tutoring up to A Level. In my own EPQ I received 100% and have since undertaken many self-guided research projects through my degree.
My focus in teaching is an understanding of the fundamentals before building on that knowledge to achieve higher grades, while maintaining the enjoyment and satisfaction that can come from education. I believe in meeting students where they are with the knowledge. I view my job as a tutor as finding the most intuitive way for the student to understand the concept. It is my job to adapt my style of teaching to the student, not for the student to adapt their learning to my teaching.
I am equipped with many little techniques that, put together, can upgrade essays overnight, from small language shifts to structural changes and different ways to analyse questions. As exams near, I will be able to read and provide feedback on essays and past exams that we can go through in the tutoring session.
