I am a very enthusiastic and experienced Head of Geography who is passionate about wanting pupils to be able to access, enjoy and do well in the subject. I am extremely patient and able to employ a wide range of teaching strategies to ensure all pupils can achieve their potential.
As well as tutoring within 10 miles of my home, I am also able to tutor in St Albans and the surrounding area.
I have been teaching for 23 years, and have been Head of Geography for 21 of those years. For the last 16 years I have been Head of Department at a high achieving state school in St Albans, and have consistently enabled pupils to achieve higher than their target grade. I teach pupils from KS3 through to A Level. I currently teach both Human and Physical Geography at GCSE and A Level, as well as preparing pupils for Geographical Skills papers. I am also able to support pupils with their Independent Investigations. I am extremely experienced in enabling pupils to gain excellent results in controlled assesments. I have also been a GCSE examiner which has given me an insight into how to tackle and pass exam papers.
I am resourceful, patient and able to adapt my tutoring to the individual needs of pupils. I have the ability to enable pupils to access the subject and reach their full potential, or focus pupils specifically for exams.
