Hi. As with pretty much everyone else here, I'm friendly and patient. I have a wide range of hobbies, including astronomy and amateur radio, the latter of which I started when I set up and ran an amateur radio club at Notre Dame High School. I also operate the PA at our local church. I'm in my late fifties with three (adult) children and one grandchild.
I will be working away from Norwich for much of the early part of his academic year (2024/2025). I will be available online during this time, but will only be available for face to face sessions during March and from May onwards.
I have taught science and maths in secondary schools for five years, coming into teaching late after a long and varied career working in radiotherapy, aviation and computer support. I have taught and tutored maths and science to GCSE level and maths, physics and chemistry up to A2 level. My wide range of experience outside the education system informs my teaching and makes it more relevant.
I always try and tailor my tutoring to each individual, assessing level of understanding, and looking for areas of strength and weakness. I then work to strengthen understanding in all areas. My goal is a to enhance logical thinking so that my students are able to approach unfamiliar questions with greater confidence and apply the knowledge they have to both familiar and unfamiliar situations.I appreciate that all students learn at their own rate and adapt my teaching style to match.
