Hello, I'm Grace. I study Spanish and Italian at the University of Oxford with a Choral Scholarship. I achieved A*A*A in my A-levels, Spanish, Religious Studies and Latin.

Tutoring Experience

--- SPANISH ---
Spanish has been my passion for as long as I can remember, and I hope that through these lessons I can make you feel the same way! As a home-educated student who self-studied both my GCSEs and A-levels, I can support students with independent learning and teach them strategies to help them achieve top grades. I can also help with Oxbridge preparation, including MLAT prep for Spanish, interview prep for all languages, and personal statement reviews.

I am also interested in Hispanic culture and literature, and teach about the culture of the Spanish-speaking world alongside language. This also means that I can teach A-level students the book/film papers, helping them to analyse texts and to write essays in Spanish.

I have been assessed by Instituto Cervantes (Spanish government language and cultural organisation) as DELE level B2 (advanced). I have a Grade 9 in GCSE Spanish and can cover both GCSE and iGCSE (AQA, Pearson Edexcel). I am predicted an A* in Spanish A-level and hold an offer to study Spanish and Italian at the University of Oxford. Last year I helped a home-educated GCSE student to achieve a Grade 9 in their exam, and I also teach primary school Spanish.

--- ENGLISH ---
At GCSE I achieved Grade 9s in both English Language and English Literature. I have just finished my A-levels, studying three essay-based subjects, in which I am predicted three A*s. I also hold an offer to study Spanish and Italian literature at the University of Oxford.

I have lots of experience with children and teens, and currently teach 6 other children. One of the students I teach English to has recently completed her Year 6 SATS and achieved Greater Depth in English. I have also helped a home-educated student achieve Grade 9s in both English Language and English Literature GCSEs.

I am passionate about literature, aiming to instil the same love of English in all my students as well as helping them to achieve top grades. I am kind and patient, with an exceptional ability to explain complex grammatical terms to children. As a linguist, my strong foundation in Spanish and Latin grammar has also aided this, meaning I am adept at breaking down and helping students to understand English grammar.

--- PHILOSOPHY, ETHICS, RELIGION ---
I achieved a Grade 9 in Religious Studies GCSE and have just completed my Religious Studies A-level, in which I am predicted an A*. My students have gone on to receive Grade 9s in their Religious Studies GCSEs. I also currently tutor a home-educated student in AS Religious Studies, in which they are predicted an A. I look in detail at the exam board you are studying towards, using the syllabus and mark schemes to help you target your work for the exam. I can cover philosophy, ethics and religion, and can also set and mark essays/homework if you would like me to.

--- LATIN ---
I achieved an A* in GCSE Latin after having only studied Latin for 1 year. I have just sat my Latin A-level and am predicted an A*. I have an appreciation of Latin literature, as well as the language, meaning I can teach all parts of the Latin GCSE. As well as traditional Latin reading, I also speak Latin, and am keen to encourage my students to speak the language in order to enhance their knowledge of grammar and vocabulary.

--- SINGING ---
I achieved Distinction at ABRSM Grade 8 singing and have sung in various choirs, including the Hallé Youth Choir. I am currently a Choral Scholar at my local church choir and have been offered a Choral Scholarship at Oxford University.

As a linguist, one of my areas of expertise is teaching students to sing authentically in foreign languages. I am fluent in Spanish and have working vocal knowledge of Italian and French as well as being well-versed in spoken (active) Latin. I also play the cornet to ABRSM Grade 7 standard and have ABRSM Grade 5 music theory. I am a classically trained singer, able to teach students the classical style, but I also enjoy musical theatre and can teach a range of different styles. I have experience teaching people of all ages, and one of my students recently achieved Grade 8 Distinction in their ABRSM singing exam.

Tutoring Approach

Each lesson is tailored to the student's individual needs and I can set and mark homework if you would like me to. I use a combination of different materials to keep the lessons fun and engaging, including quizzes, films and music resources. As I am home-educated, I can help students to manage their time and study independently. I have a recent Enhanced DBS check and have experience teaching people of all ages, including children and adults. I have tutored students in a range of subjects, with my students going on to receive top grades.
