I am a qualified teacher with over twenty five years experience, mentoring and teaching young people and adults with additional needs, learning difficulties, social, emotional health needs. I am also the Dyslexia Lead at my current school.
2014-current post-SEN/SEMHN/SEND School small group/specialist small group teaching+ Outreach
Dyslexia Lead - facilitate staff training and strategies
2008 - 2014 - Functional Skills coordinator for young people with special needs at a Specialist College
1998 - 2008 - Drama Tutor (Special Needs)
I have a firm but fair, person-centered approach. I believe my success with my students is a result of building trust and finding a 'way in' with students by getting to know their interests. I encourage my students to believe in themselves; for example, adding the word 'yet' to 'can't', will act as a powerful vehicle to bring about positive change!
