I am an energetic and passionate teacher of both Psychology and Biology at A Level and GCSE Science and after teaching for almost 20 years in UK schools, I still thoroughly love teaching and getting students to achieve the best they can. Teaching is a dynamic process which should center on learning being both enjoyable and rewarding. It is my belief that all students can learn and achieve and as such, it is about finding the right method and technique(s) that best suits each student so that learning is personalised to maximise progress.

Tutoring Experience

I have twenty years experience of teaching A Level Psychology, GCSE Biology and Combined Science to a range of abilities, from those aspiring to the very top grades or to those who wish to develop their knowledge and/or skills to secure their own aspirational grades. I am currently employed as Head of Sixth Form and I currently teach A Level Psychology and GCSE Biology and KS3 Science in a prestigious and highly successful school in Harpenden. I have been employed as an examiner for both GCSE Science and A Level Psychology (AQA specifications) and as such I have a very detailed and effective understanding of the exam requirements and skills which leads to great success in student outcomes.

Tutoring Approach

Clear and well planned delivery followed by with plenty of formative assessment. I have a very interactive and engaging approach to teaching and learning in general. Depending on the age group in question, I use a combination of diagrams, discussion, video clips, a range of questioning techniques followed up by critical exam style practice questions with markschemes, to help ensure both engagement and effective application to the specific exams.
