I am from the island and went to college at JCG for both GCSE and A-Level qualifications. At school I excelled in maths but found English and literacy subjects very difficult due because of dyslexia. I then went on to achieve a first class honours in a Masters Civil Engineering at Cardiff University.
Currently working at a local engineering company and tutoring all levels up to and including GCSE. During my tutoring sessions I focus mainly on exam preparation, technique and practice questions but can also vary my teaching to assist students is specific maths modules and basic understanding of maths principles.
I have been working as a maths tutor since receiving training during university to become a teaching assistant. This work I found interesting yet challenging as many students who have difficulty with maths struggle more trying to learn in a full classroom environment.
Maths is important in many aspects of life and is used by everyone at some point everyday. Finding an interest of a pupil for when maths is used by them is the first step in them understanding and enjoying maths making it easier to learn.
