I am retired from classroom teaching and now write as an academic. I published a book on the Irish poet Seamus Heaney with Cambridge University Press in February 2025 and I am currently working on another book for CUP.
I taught at secondary level from 1997 until 2018. I was Head of Classical Studies from 1999 to 2008, Acting Head of Classics from 2010 to 2011, Head of Theology from 2011 to 2018 and teacher of Latin from 2010 to 2018.
My approach is to emphasise personalised learning. Every student has very specific needs and my approach is to further develop areas of strength and to assist the student in identifying areas of weakness and setting concrete targets to address these. My students have always found me approachable, patient and focused on their academic needs and their pastoral welfare.
