My name is Frederik, and I am currently finishing my International Master's Degree in Russian and Eurasian Studies at a Russian university in St. Petersburg. The Russian language has been a major passion of mine for quite some time and I look forward to being able to share it with my students, as well as help provide an incentive to maintain my language skills now that I am out of Russia.
Truthfully, I have limited experience teaching but I am very sociable and am excited and ready to go!
I do English Language Conversation classes with second language speakers so I have experience talking slowly and clearly and having to explain grammatical concepts and colloquial linguistic norms.
I want to provide my students with the key skills they need to enjoy using the Russian language practically. Therefore the basis of course, will be a careful and steady focus on literacy, grammar and conversation. I think a key step is also encouraging confidence in the student's own skills. Additionally, Russian is a living and historical language so I hope to provide variety and interests by also including Russian language music, film extracts, and poetry and literature. Should the focus be on passing an exam, such as the GCSE, a curriculum focused on exam skills and past papers will be more the style.
