I believe the best way to help a student to do well in a subject is to make sure that they enjoy learning it. As such I always strive to build confidence in my students by giving them the opportunity to develop their knowledge and understanding in a friendly environment. Moreover, I find that students learn best when they understand not merely what has to be learned, but also why it is important and how the material relates to both other aspects of the subject and real life.
With new students I first focus on understanding their strengths and weakness. Usually, I then work with them to shore up the areas where they are weaker, and finally I help them excel in their strongest areas. Naturally, exceptional students can be introduced to challenging material immediately. By following this pattern, I have helped students become better prepared for school exams as well as the more challenging National Mathematics Competitions and University entrance exams.
