I hold the following qualifications: Cert. In Education with a distinction in mathematics, B. Ed and M.Sc all from the University of Zimbabwe. I hold a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction from Wayne States University (USA).
I have taught mathematics and science in secondary schools for a combined 32 years in Zimbabwe, USA and UK. Currently, I am teaching in one of the schools in the United Kingdom, mathematics and science.
I believe that in tutoring, it essential to keep the subject real by making use of relevant examples which students come across in everyday life experiences. Students should be taught to become independent learners and thinkers. This can be achieved by asking questions that develop critical thinking skills. This helps to build self-confidence in the students. Students should be afforded the opportunity to ask questions so that their voices can be heard more than the tutor's. Feedback needs to be regular. Marking of students' work needs to be thorough and informative.
