My qualifications: PhD Business (Scholarship), MA Marketing (Dist), BSc Business Economics (1st). I am a 50 years old and Italian native from Rome. I have move abroad in my late 20s and never looked back! Since then I have been living and working in different countries (Ireland, Spain, France, Netherlands, Mexico and Canada to name the main ones).
Currently I am an academic researcher and lecturer at Nottingham Trent University for the past 10 years, having also recently completed my PhD, for which I was awarded a full scholarship.
My credentials can be easily checked online. I always found teaching a refreshing and stimulating activity for the mind and I am incredibly satisfied when I see students achieving their goals.
I am also a mother, a social entrepreneur and an outdoor enthusiast among other things.
I have a wide and long time teaching experience in both private, university and companies environment.
In UK, I have been working as a lecturer at Nottingham Trent University for the past 10 years and still teaching at this Uni. I also collaborate with other institutions and I have supervised hundreds of students for their UG and PG dissertations throughout these years.
I have also provided private tutoring for students needing help with their University assignments and final dissertation (UG and PG level) on a freelance basis: my usual way of working is setting up a first "planning session" where I understand fully the requirements of the job and set clear milestones and regular "homework", so that students are on track with their deadlines; I then usually guide and review the work at any stage of the process to help maximise the outcome.
This long-time experience has challenged and strengthen my tutoring skills and my ability to adapt to the style of different learners.
I am a friendly and cheerful person and my Italian accent is usually well-received (!). I like to transmit my passion for learning to my students. My approach to teaching is to have fun with it as much as possible and to think outside the box. I usually prefer to diversify and reinforce the learning by studying the same topic from different angles and using a variety of sources/media formats. I also like to bring things to life through role playing or plenty of practical examples and/or video clips. More importantly, I challenge students to think for themselves and question what they learn: I believe this factor is a major contributor to memorisation and recall.
Adapting to the particular style of learning of each of my student requires to have a preliminary chat where we discuss and clarify the main objectives, problems, habits, likes and dislikes: in this way I can better help and plan for the sessions and the teaching ahead.
For this reason I always offer a preliminary - highly discounted - consultation (at my place or ONLINE) to discuss things in detail. Usually, I ask students to provide their assignment brief or project outline at the very start of their request, so that I can gauge whether I am the right tutor for the job.
