I am a highly qualified, mature and experienced teacher of History, Sociology and English. I am absolutely passionate about my subject and have taught people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds. I have been teaching for over twenty years, and I am also a mother of four, so I understand education from the perspective of a parent as well!
I have taught across multiple units for AQA, Edexcel and OCR A level and GCSE History, English and Sociology, Functional Skills, as well as the iGCSE.

Tutoring Experience

I taught history undergraduates at Hull University for 13 years and have also taught at several local sixth form colleges. I have worked within higher and further education for twenty years. I have taught at several local sixth form colleges and I run my own local history classes and workshops, as well as marking A level History for the Edexcel exam board every summer for the past twenty years. I have privately tutored many students over the past fifteen years and helped to achieve excellent results at both A level and GCSE. I have taught several resitting students, private candidates and students needing catch-up support, and I am very familiar with exam and coursework specifications for Edexcel, OCR, AQA and Cambridge/iGCSE. My feedback has always been excellent and I pride myself on forming strong relationships with my students and their families. I have a full clean driving licence and a recent DBS certificate.

Tutoring Approach

I have worked for exam boards for many years so I understand how exam papers are put together, and can guide students in the right direction in their revision. I also specialise in the structuring of essays and other coursework, as well as analysing sources, and can help students to enjoy writing and researching. Achievement and enjoyment should go hand in hand and I always focus on the needs of my students as individuals. I am very experienced in online teaching via Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
