Bonjour!
My name is Fiona and I am a Modern Languages teacher at a secondary school in East Ayrshire. I have a passion for Modern Languages.
My enthusiasm for French resulted in me studying it throughout my time at Secondary school and I then went on to study International Business with French at Glasgow Caledonian University. During University I spent a Summer working for Disneyland Paris and in my third year, I studied International Management at Toulouse Business School as part of an Erasmus programme.
After graduating, I then went on to work for Monarch holidays as a Destination Host in Lanzarote then Corfu. I then returned to Scotland to complete a PGDE course in Secondary Education - specialising in French.
I am currently a fully qualified French teacher and I am also learning Spanish at university level. I have also gained a premium TEFL/TESOL qualification aswell as achieving an Advanced Higher English whilst at school.

Tutoring Experience

My teaching journey started in 2015 and since then I have gained experience of 4 different schools across 3 different local authorities. My main role has been as a teacher of French and for the past 5 years I have taught French at all levels including National 4,5 and Higher. I have an in-depth knowledge of BGE Modern Languages and also of the National 4,5 and Higher Cirriculum aswell as the exam specifications. In my current employment I run Easter School, Supported Study and Master Classes for National 5 pupils and I have developed many resources.
I have also previously delivered French language and cultural lessons to Primary children across a one year period.
I have previously volunteered for a children’s language learning organisation in Glasgow where I have worked with children from babies to age 8 to help them develop their language skills through interactive methods. This was not only for French but many languages including English as a Foreign Language.

Tutoring Approach

I am a friendly and approachable person who understands that everyone has individual needs and aspirations. I like to get to know my students and I work with them to tailor my tutoring approach to best suit their needs.

I am available to tutor in the Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire or East Ayrshire area.
