Hello, my name is Favour Pius-Imue and I am excited to be a tutor role with First Tutors. I have a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Covenant University and a Master's degree (in view) in Environmental Management from Glasgow Caledonian University. I have over 2 years of experience teaching 12th Graders Mathematics, A-Level English, A-Level Mathematics, College Math and Technical Maths to students in the United States; both in-person and online. I have also tutored university students in their first and second years, as well as adults. I am a dedicated and passionate educator who is committed to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students. I am especially skilled in Leadership Development and Capacity Building. I am also skilled in providing quality tutoring through remote/online platforms. I am impressed by the academic excellence and community involvement at First Tutors and I believe that I would make a valuable contribution to the school community.

Tutoring Experience

1. Varsity Tutors (July 2022-Date)
   Remote private tutoring for: A-Level Geography, GCSE Math, Technical Math and GCSE English. My client base comprises of students from the United States and the United Kingdom; 11 and 12th-graders, college freshers and sophomores. 95% of my clients have recorded significant improvements in their academic performance following my teaching methods; proof that effective remote tutoring is possible.

2. Private Tutor (In-person), Lagos. January 2020-May 2021
   In-person teaching: Mathematics, Advanced/Engineering Mathematics and Physics. My clients were high school and first-year undergraduate students. My methods received numerous positive feedbacks and referrals from parents and guardians regarding their children and wards' significant academic improvements.

Tutoring Approach

As a tutor, my approach is centered around fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment that promotes student success. I believe in using a variety of teaching techniques and tools to engage students and help them develop a deep understanding of the material.

My first priority is to get to know my students and understand their individual learning needs. I believe that every student is unique, and I make it a point to customize my approach to their learning style and pace. This helps me to tailor my lessons to their strengths and weaknesses and ensures that they are getting the most out of our sessions.

I also place a strong emphasis on active learning and encourage my students to participate in class discussions and activities. By doing so, I aim to foster a collaborative atmosphere that encourages students to share their ideas and perspectives, and ultimately deepen their understanding of the material.

I am also an excellent communicator and believe that clear and concise communication is key to ensuring that students understand the material. I use simple, straightforward language and make sure to take the time to explain concepts that students may be struggling with.

In addition to my teaching abilities, I am also highly organized and prepared. I always come to each session with a well-structured lesson plan that includes a clear outline of the material we will cover, as well as any supporting materials or resources.

Overall, my approach as a tutor is to create a positive and engaging learning environment that empowers students to achieve their goals. I believe that with hard work and dedication, every student has the potential to succeed, and I am committed to helping them reach their full potential.
