I am a recent BSc (Hons) Biology graduate from Manchester Metropolitan University, and I graduated with an overall 1:1 grade. I am incredibly passionate about Biology, and my main subject interest is microbiology (specifically studying bacteria), along with animal and plant care! I have many houseplants I enjoy tending to, and 2 lovely guinea pigs.

Tutoring Experience

I have tutored 6 students in Biology and Maths during the last 3 years while being at university, and they stated that it helped them in the lead-up to their GCSE and A-Level exams. They all received higher grades in their exams than they did in their mock exams before having me help them revise, and achieved the necessary grades for their next steps of education or work, whatever their paths were.

Tutoring Approach

Having gone through exam periods myself, I fully empathise with how stressful they can feel. I am passionate about helping students with subjects I have knowledge and first-hand experience in and allowing them to reach their full potential. I believe I can provide useful tips and encouragement for dealing with the pressures of exam season and allow students to feel confident and as prepared as they can be.

My teaching approach is to go through any content a student may struggle with (usually in order of specification, but if there are only a handful of topics with refreshers needed then we can go through those selectively), and then go through past exam questions on those topics to consolidate their knowledge and learn how to tailor your answers to the mark schemes to achieve the highest marks. Finally, doing timed past exam papers in or out of sessions is a great way to revise and prepare students for the real thing. We can then mark them together to see what areas are great and what areas we can improve on in sessions!
