Hi, I’m Ethan, a passionate STEM advocate with a BSc in Computer Science from the University of Warwick and an MSc in Environmental Modelling from UCL. Throughout my time at university, I specialised in AI applications within geography and environmental science - and I'm eager to promote interdisciplinary approaches. I now work as a hydraulic modeller within an engineering consultancy, exploring some of the most pressing issues in the water industry.
I'm passionate about technology and inspiring students, and I bring this energy into every lesson! I’ve delivered over 185 lessons for AQA and OCR specifications, consistently maintaining a 5-star rating on alternative tutoring platforms. Over the last five years, I’ve actively promoted STEM—running coding clubs, delivering climate change workshops with ClimateEd, and showcasing careers in Engineering and Technology as a STEM Ambassador.
I provide new students with a checklist from the OCR/ AQA specification to identify potential weaknesses in knowledge. Together, we'll prioritise topics and create an efficient study plan, tackling the trickiest content first to take pressure off exam season.
My lessons are interactive, balancing new concepts with practice. I always encourage discussions throughout the session, asking questions and encouraging students to explain concepts back to me - teaching is the best way to learn! We'll finish with key takeaways and exam-style questions to test understanding.
For algorithms, I assist students in developing an intuitive understanding of the concepts behind them to allow students to confidently code these principles from scratch rather than relying on memorisation. Developing these computational skills provides a great foundation for further study.
