Hello! I'm a highly qualified Drama and Performing Arts teacher with over 10 years experience in the classroom and a passion for inspiring students to develop knowledge, skills and confidence in Drama and Performance. I live in Shrewsbury with my son Luka and Daisy the Dog and in my free time love going to the theatre, dancing, reading and spending time in the great outdoors!

Tutoring Experience

I have been a teacher of Drama and Performing Arts for over 10 years and am currently in my 6th year as Head of Department. I have consistently been graded an outstanding teacher throughout my career and I have a track record of excellent exam results for KS4 and KS5. I have in-depth experience in a broad range of exams boards including AQA, EDUQAS, BTEC and OCR which allows me to provide targeted support for all my tutees.

My previous experience as an actor and freelance lecturer has further shaped my subject knowledge and I successfully coach students for Acting assessments and Drama school auditions.

Tutoring Approach

I believe that effective learning happens when students feel engaged, secure and fully supported within a challenging and inspiring learning environment. I place emphasis on well-structured lessons that motivate students to become active participants in their own learning-journey whilst providing targeted support that ensures effective and consistent progress at all times.

After creating a detailed initial picture of a student's current situation and their desired outcomes, individual lessons are designed to achieve clear targets that act as building blocks on the road to success. By consistently reflecting on progress and identifying areas for further development with the student, I seek to improve confidence and life-long skills. Alternatively, one off lessons to address specific areas are also possible, if desired.

All lessons are flexible and tailored to the student's individual needs and aims. For example, academic work could focus on unpicking exam questions, script analysis, identifying and closing knowledge gaps, reviewing and improving coursework and developing writing skills. Practical sessions could focus on understanding and developing stylistic approaches, interpretation of a role, vocal and physical skills development and audition technique.

I am fully committed to support each student with an engaging tutor program that is easy to understand and builds knowledge, skills and confidence in all aspects of Drama and Performance.
