My name is Eric Removed. I am originally from Canada, and I moved to the UK five years ago. I love teaching and living here, and I'm aiming to stay here for much longer!

Tutoring Experience

I have been teaching in a private primary school in London for 5 years. In that time, I have taught both Y5 and Y6 students in Maths and English to help students get success in their 11+ exams and into their desired secondary schools, as well as helping them achieve academic scholarships. I have also nurtured the progress of those who simply want to achieve their highest potential, regardless of where they end up. This experience has given me insight into success in both 11+ exams and year end KS2 SATS, as well as expertise in helping parents through the 11+ application process.

Tutoring Approach

Every good teacher needs to know their student, so building a relationship first is the first and most important step for me. Once I have a good understanding of where they're at, I like to use a mixture of skills-based practice as well as open-ended tasks to help consolidate their knowledge and deepen their conceptual understanding of the material. A typical lesson would take an hour to accommodate both the skills practice as well as the problem-solving, and would also involve both writing and giving feedback on actual 11+/SATS tests.
