Currently accepting exam year 2025/2026 students
I am an experienced, knowledgable, and kind full-time tutor. I use the power of psychology through interactive lessons to help students with their psychology exams. I currently have limited availability on Tuesdays, Wednesday afternoons, Thursdays, and Fridays.
I mostly tutor GCSE and A-Level students with some students completing iGCSEs, Scottish National 5, Scottish Highers, International A-Level, BSc and MSc Psychology programmes.
Important information:
1) I offer an introductory session where we meet each other, discuss the subject, and create a plan going forward. This is also a good opportunity to ask as many questions as you'd like. Parents are welcome to join on this call too. This session is up to 30 minutes in duration and is free of charge.
I am an experienced tutor that has helped students achieve at least one grade above their current working grade.
Some 2024 results from students that I am extremely proud of:
Student A: predicted E, achieved C. (AQA A-Level) - we worked together Y13 February-May
Student B: predicted A, achieved A*. (AQA A-Level) - we worked together for the whole of Y12 and Y13.
Student C: predicted B, achieved B (with 8 months out of school due to sickness). (Edexcel A-Level) - we worked together for Y13.
Student D: predicted B, achieved A. (AQA A-Level) - we worked together Y13 April & May
Student E: predicted C, achieved B. (CIE, AS-Level) - we worked together Y13 Christmas - June
Student F: predicted 4, achieved 6. (Edexcel GCSE) - we worked together Y11 February - June
GCSE & National 5
I have tutored many GCSE students up and down the country in both the AQA and Edexcel exam boards. It is common for me to see students who may feel that they understand the topics but are just not achieving their aspired grades in mocks and in-class tests.
Together, we will be working through the course content, whilst putting a significant emphasis on the exam technique in order to snatch up as many marks as possible in the exam.
Students that begin working with me during Year 10 have achieved grades 8-9. If your child is not thinking of selecting Psychology for A-Level by the end of our time working together, I haven't done my job (cue evil laugh)!
A-Level & Scottish Higher
I have taught many students at A-Level. Including exam boards: AQA, Edexcel, WJEC/Eduqas, SQA, OCR, International Cambridge, International Oxford AQA, and International Edexcel.
Psychology is a really unique subject that is not like any other A-Level subject. It requires a mix of factual knowledge (like science), debating skills (like English), and independent critical thinking. It is often an overlooked subject and many students don't prioritise it.
Most of the time, students come to me with a solid grasp on most topics but are not achieving their desired grades or they find the course content very tricky. Particularly the biological approach (approaches, stress, schizophrenia etc) and research methods.
At A-Level, it is extremely important to begin thinking like a Psychologist - mixing those scientific, critical and argumentative skills together. Not being able to do effectively, is likely the reason that evaluation (AO3) is poor and students have difficulty grabbing good amounts of marks in exam questions.
Together, we will work through the different topics, learning how to think like a Psychologist and apply all of this to exam questions. Exam technique can be the difference between a C and an A!
Every A-Level student I have tutored has achieved at least one grade above their mock grades - achieving grades A*-C and students who began working with me during Y12 have achieved at least an A.
Psychology is a really tricky subject and I am here to make it a lot lot easier.
University
Do you need help with a particular assignment? Perhaps you need support to nail critical and concise academic psychological writing in order to smash your dissertation? I support many university students in various ways. In the first instance, I would encourage you to utilise your university's support systems. You are paying a lot of money to study at the institution and your tutors and student support teams should help you on specific tasks. Such as, if you don't understand what you need to do for an assignment or you have specific questions relating to that assignment, for example, "do I need to include an analysis in this section?", then those questions are probably better directed to the assignment setter (your module leader). Alternatively, you should find some answers in your module handbook. Then, if you get your answer and you're unsure how to actually proceed, that's when I can help you. I support a variety of university level students on a regular and ad-hoc basis. In addition, I am happy to independently read-over work and mark it with feedback for £20 per hour. Send me a message and we can discuss how I can help you.
As a Psychologist, I understand individual differences. I constantly seek new methods and adapt to current styles of teaching to suit each individual young person to ensure they achieve the most out of each session.
I use a range of resources depending on the subject.
I have high expectations of students and I encourage them to have high expectations of themselves. A can-do attitude is super important and I strive to improve their confidence as well as their academic abilities and self-discipline.
As you can see, my prices are affordable as I try to make my tutoring as accessible as possible. Please note, I do not devalue my services by offering discounts.
I really look forward to working with you / your child!
