Learning a new language is one of the most fulfilling endeavours we can undertake, it opens our eyes to the world around us and allows us to see life through a new lens, enriching our narrative of both the world and ourselves. French is a beautiful language and as English speakers we already know thousands of French words. Over 60% of English words come from French - we are already off to a good start!
The most important thing about learning a language is confidence and to get the most from tutoring I feel it is important that the student feels comfortable, curious and empowered. Also as a native English speaker I have a thorough knowledge of the challenges presented in learning French as a second language. My aim is for students to leave every session with a sense of accomplishment and for their confidence using the language creatively to improve. I want to help you achieve your goals as well as foster the wonderful role that learning a new language can have in your life, equipping you with skills you can take forward into other areas.
I am all about infusing the learning process with the rich flavours of French culture; so expect to see our learning take place besides the great works of Hugo, the incredible feats of Méliès, and the profound talents of Voltaire. My ethos for adult learners is to engage with the foundations of French in authentic contexts which both inspire and impassion you!
Since graduating from the University of Manchester with a 2:1 in French studies I continued my interest in language and education and obtained a Master's degree in Psychology, centering my thesis on the impacts of personality on learning. I have taught in secondary schools in both England and France.
I use modern, refreshing resources and activities. I am aware of different learning types and educational needs and will meet your individual requirements by assessing the best ways to get the most out of your unique individuality!
