I am a qualified primary school teacher with a QTS and a PGCE. Currently, I teach year 5 at a local primary school.

Previously, I have taught English to primary, secondary and adult learners as a second Language for over 20 years and I really enjoyed it. I use fun and engaging ways to make learning a positive experience and I'm happy to focus on the areas needing to be improved; speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar or a combination.

I have taught in the Middle East and in Asia, as well as, here in the UK.

I look forward to meeting anyone who wants, or needs, to improve their any of their English or maths skills for their job, school or for their personal life.

Tutoring Experience

I am a qualified primary school teacher with a QTS and a PGCE as well as an experienced teacher of English as a foreign language to adults and children including IELTS and business English.

After graduating from university in 1996 I completed my CELTA (Certificate of English Language Teaching to Adults) and DELTA (diploma) and was recruited by the British Council.
I worked with the British Council in the Middle East and Asia and moved from being an English teacher up to an Academic Manager teaching English to young learners and adults a wide range of courses:
General English
Business English
IELTS
ESP (English for Specific Purposes)
Skills focus (writing, reading, speaking and listening)
Primary
Secondary

I returned with my family to the UK in January 2017 and now enjoy the flexibility of private students as I have a family to work around.

Tutoring Approach

Personally, I feel that if you are engaged and enjoying the experience you are more able to learn. Therefore, I aim to create activities that suit individual needs in terms of challenge and fun to develop and achieve the goals set.
