I graduated in 2019 with a First Class Politics degree from Durham University. I achieved three A*'s at A-Level in History, English and Politics. I am about to start a Psychology conversion course at the University of Westminster and would like to do some tutoring alongside my studies. I am very friendly and enjoy working with people of all ages. I really enjoy tutoring and helping people improve both their confidence and ability in subjects. I am especially good at exam and revision techniques. I am very approachable and willing to go at whatever pace the student desires. I can be flexible and give as little or as much help as is required.

Tutoring Experience

I have four years experience tutoring English (language and literature), History (including History coursework) and I specialise in helping with English Literature coursework.
I am very proud to say that a student I tutored regularly for four years improved their English Literature grade from a B to A*.
I have three years experience reading and scribing for disabled children for their GCSE and A-Level exams.
I casually tutored 3 friends at Durham University. This involved helping them with their politics degree and dissertation.
I have proofread multiple dissertations in subjects ranging from Law to Engineering.

Tutoring Approach

We will first look at a broad overview of the topic. I will then break down the subject into easy to understand segments. I will ensure that you understand each segment fully, before moving onto the next. In order to do this I will give examples and ask questions to ensure that your understanding is complete. We will do this with each part of the topic, step by step, until you understand the full issue. We will then relook at the overview to place this knowledge into context. I find that this method ensures that the student fully understands the topic and so would be more likely to remember it. In turn this will make it easier to build on the knowledge and gain those higher marks.

I will offer alternative ways of understanding the subject, with appropriate examples, activities, games and homework. I find that this makes the lesson more memorable, entertaining and informative.

With English coursework, I will work through your coursework with you and make corrections to spelling and grammar, while prompting you to consider more advanced forms of writing. I like to think 'outside the box' and consider underlying themes or points that other students wouldn't consider, making your coursework stand out. Before you start drafting your coursework, I will assist you in making an essay plan, including the introduction, conclusion and different paragraphs.
