I am a recent master's graduate looking to tutor in my spare time.
During my undergraduate degree I gained two years experience in tutoring through my department's peer mentoring scheme. I also helped to run the scheme in my third year. This involved creating study resources and tutoring first-year students in small group settings. I gained AFHEA (Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy) recognition for this work.
I like to facilitate learning through practice questions and activities to aid understanding rather than rote memorisation. Rather than simply giving the student the answer to their question, I find it more beneficial to help them work through the problem and come to the conclusion on their own. This can help with their overall understanding of a topic much more than simply providing them with a set of answers which they will likely forget after the exam.
