Hi! My name is Emile, and I'm a recently graduated physicist from Durham University, currently working as a satellite engineer at Astroscale UK. I achieved First Class Honours in my degree, during which I developed an autonomous space debris tracking system from scratch as part of my Master's project. I truly love physics, and particularly teaching it to others, and would one day like to become a professional physics teacher once I have some experience in my field.
Besides my work, I have a number of hobbies including drone racing, boxing and scuba diving, which I try to enjoy as often as I can. I'm also a big fan of cooking, and love making homemade meals every day for myself and my fiancée.
I have previously worked as a tutor with GoStudent for several years, teaching a total of over 100 sessions, and have done many more private sessions for my own tutoring business. I also worked as a mentor in my university cohort to assist students in lower years with their work.
I am a firm believer that the best way to excel in physics exams and to fully grasp the skills they require is to apply them practically. I like to start my sessions by focusing on the underlying concepts of a topic, visualising them in whatever way best suits the student, and building understanding through intuitive examples where they may be applied. I then encourage my students to use their newfound understanding to complete relevant exam questions with my guidance, if it is needed. I'll then walk the student through any areas of the question that they don't understand, and mark it accurately in the same way that an examiner would, only with more reasoning behind missed marks. I have access to 7+ years of past papers from every exam board at GCSE and A-Level, as well as an extensive bank of university-level questions and past papers from my degree.
