I’m an undergraduate student at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama studying musical performance in the baritone horn, taught by world class Euphonium player Robert Childs.
I have a wide variety of performance experience, currently playing for the ranked No.4 band in the world, Tredegar Town Band, on principle Baritone, under the Barton of bear of brass band studies at Birmingham conservatoire Ian Porthouse, who has mentored me over the past year.
I have been experience playing at the highest level, in concert halls such as; Birmingham Symphony Hall, Royal Albert Hall, Sage Gateshead, and have played internationally as well.
I’ve had experience teaching younger brass players before, and have helped run sectionals at youth band rehearsals, aiming to nurture aspiring brass players.
My mentorship from Ian Porthouse has helped me develop valuable musical experiences and skills, that I believe would benefit anyone.
I take a friendly approach to my lessons, to try and create a positive, pressure free environment. I’m big on building the fundamentals in every student I work with, so would spend time on study/method books as well as the pieces that the student wishes to work on. I’m big on also building a more musical mind in a player, which ultimately creates the best performers.
I’m flexible to all ages, and can comfortably cater to the needs of players from beginners right up until grade 8.
