I am a friendly, enthusiastic and supportive individual who likes to give learners specific goals to achieve at their own pace. I have been a College and University Lecturer for 15 years and I have provided many individuals with academic and personal support through their exams and course work.
I have been a 1-1 personal tutor for many years, alongside my full time teaching post. I have taught Key stages 1-4 in Science and English and I have also tutored individuals with learning difficulties.
I have a real passion for Science and English and this encourages my students to learn. I teach Entry level, that has a wider range of students with educational needs, up to A level. I also teach Foundation degree in Behaviour Science, so I can support learners who need help with study skills, writing reports/assignments and preparing for exams in higher education/degree programmes.
I am also happy to receive requests from adult learners who are going back to studying after a period of time out of education.
I like to see how each individual learns before I begin teaching them. Some individuals prefer images, others through text/reading and I think this is an important approach as not everyone learns the same way. I also teach to individual ability and to stretch learners at their own pace. I believe learning should be challenging and interesting enough to be motivating. A friendly face and a sense of humour also helps.
