Hi! I'm Lizzie, a Cognitive Neuroscientist based in Cambridge. My day job involves running experiments investigating how our sensory systems interact with cognition - how we learn, search and create flexible goals. I love talking about experiments, brains and all things biology!
Alongside my main role as a researcher, I have taught undergraduates in small group settings (Oxford & Cambridge) for over 10 years. This teaching has been both classroom based and in practical settings. I've also worked as a Director of Studies for two Cambridge Colleges, overseeing the academic progress of our psychology students.
I have previously worked as a tutor for A-level students, both in my favourite subject areas (Psychology, Biology) and for UK University preparation.
A-level studies are a critical transition between secondary and higher education. At this stage, I belive students should be starting to take charge of their own learning and identifying areas to explore for further study. My role is to support
the student in building a reliable knowledge base and to guide the maturation of independent critical thought. I always aim to build confidence in academic self-presentation, whilst nudging my students to take another step forward.
I'm very happy to work with students on a short-term basis if preferred.
