A versatile vocalist and tutor of music, specialising in jazz, improvisation and popular music. As well as jazz and popular music, sings a wide variety of genres, including soul, R&B, gospel and funk music. Alongside being a professional singer, is also a proficient pianist with a qualification in classical piano playing, having performed at competitions and numerous classical music concerts.
Currently pursuing BMus studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, studying with Brigitte Beraha, Gareth Lockrane, Sara Colman and Oli Rockberger. Graduated with a first class diploma in Jazz Music from the Latvian National School of Arts and in Classical Piano Playing from the Jelgava Music
School.
Sings with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra and London Vocal Project. Won the ICCA UK final with the a cappella group “The Guildhall Conchords”. Has participated in a number of music festivals and contests both within the United Kingdom, Latvia and outside, such as ‘Saulkrasti Jazz’, ‘Venstpils Groove’, ‘Berga Bazars Summer Festival’, and ‘Dziesmu Putenis’, in which was the grand prix winner. Also partook in the jazz music festival ‘Visioon’ in Tallin, Estonia. Together with a vocal group ‘Insomnia’ won the 2nd prize in the a cappella music festival ‘Moscow Spring A Cappella 2019’ in Moscow, Russia. With her own musical projects has performed in various music clubs in both London and Latvia – 'Vortex', ‘Pizza Express Jazz Club’, ‘Old Street Records’, ‘Pashkevich Jazz Club’, ‘Trompete’, ‘Blues 54 Jazz’, and has also sung with the ‘JVLMA Big band’.
Confident in vocal and piano playing tuition, focusing on developing technique, repertoire and good understanding of music theory. A confident and understanding educator, respecting students and treating them as unique individuals. An exemplary tutor for young musicians. Have worked with various age groups in a variety of settings including one-to-one, group and choir.
My teaching method is to focus on developing a healthy technique, appropriate repertoire and a good understanding of music theory. At the same time, I am encouraging my students to find their own voice in music. I always focus on keeping my lessons fun and my students interested. I am patient and caring in my approach and try to always support my students making the environment in the class friendly and open. I feel confident in teaching both face-to-face and in an online setting.
