Online English and French Tutor

I am currently completing an bachelors degree in History at the London School of Economics. Alongside History, I also teach English Literature and French, both of which I have continued to study at a university level.

I studied all three subjects at GCSE and A Level, attaining straight grade 9s and A*s respectively. I have also completed a one month intensive course in French at the Alliance Française in Paris at C1 level.

Tutoring Experience

I have several years' experience tutoring English, History and French. Moreover, I have spent two months teaching English as a Foreign Language and am a TEFL qualified teacher.

Tutoring Approach

A relaxed, open relationship between teachers and students is essential for academic progress. I aim to be as approachable a tutor as possible, whilst also remaining focused on the respective goals of my students.

When it comes to the practicalities of my approach, I believe that a solid foundation in the fundamentals of each subject is essential in order to derive the most satisfaction from them, which in turn leads to the highest grades. For History and English these include:
- An ability to construct and present a clear, well-evidenced line of argument.
- A capacity to connect individual pieces of evidence to broader scholarly arguments.
- A focus on targeting key assessment criteria.

When it comes to French, I am a strong believer in the necessity of tailoring the study of a language to the student's interests. I also attribute a great value to understanding the building blocks of the French language. Once a student has become comfortable with key grammatical constructions, competency in French can progress rapidly.
