I have enjoyed a wonderful teaching career which I have chosen to extend into retirement via examining and personal tutoring in French and Spanish. My other interests and hobbies include cycling, visiting European cities, making music and growing plants.
My teaching career spans 35 years, including Head of Modern Foreign Languages for 15 years. I have taught the full age range 11-18. I have been an examiner for AQA, so I have an in-depth knowledge of both the examination specification and how marks are awarded. I still accept short term school placements on request. Professionally, I like to stay up to date with developments in MFL through contact with serving teachers and examiner training.
The best approach is to be guided by the desired outcomes of tuition and by a student's optimal learning style. I studied for a diploma in Performance Coaching, which has been key to helping every student achieve their potential. As a GCSE examiner, I am very familiar with content, tasks and technique required for a student to make progress and achieve success at both GCSE and A level. I provide preparation, advice and feedback on every lesson. My commitment is 100% for all students. In addition to exam preparation where high grades are the focus, I offer tuition to learners of all ages at all levels including beginners, improvers and advanced.
