I am 57 years old and a qualified chartered accountant with a honours degree in chemistry and mathematics. I work as an accountant in my day job managing a small team of finance staff. I have been tutoring GCSE students for over twenty years and I achieve excellent results with virtually all my students achieving their target grade.
In addition to my twenty years tutoring experience I also have almost fourteen years part time teaching experience around teaching business mathematics and accounting at Further Education Colleges to adult learners studying for various professional accountancy qualifications. I have also on a part-time basis gained adult teaching and assessment qualifications that I have used to support my part time tutoring.
I establish a good rapport with pupils and I tailor my lessons to meet individual learning styles and needs. I am able to support and quickly improve students whether they be more able students who require their skills extending or less able students with greater learning needs who therefore require a more intensive and rigorous approach. I ensure that all my lessons are incremental and reinforce previous learning through setting questions and I also use self study/homework as a means of assessment and direction.
