I have been providing tuition since graduating from Imperial College London with a degree in Biochemistry in 2002.
I have also been an OCR Examiner and I have a very clear idea of what is required from students in exams.
Tutoring Experience
I have tutored hundreds of students and helped people of wide-ranging ages and levels, including
- scholarship students
- adults wishing to improve English and/or Maths skills
- students with learning difficulties
I’ve also coached numerous students to pass or reach higher grades in their SATS, GCSEs and A-Levels/retakes. I have an enhanced CRB disclosure and can provide references. I have worked for OCR as a Chemistry examiner.
Tutoring Approach
For GCSE and A-Level we focus particularly on exam technique and practice, a crucial area so often overlooked in the classroom.
Even students that have covered course material well have found that one-to-one tuition has improved their subject knowledge, exam skills and confidence.
Where exams are not imminent and there is more time available, we focus on building confidence.
We assess the student’s strengths and weaknesses and ensure that he or she has the basic skills needed for a solid foundation in the subject.
This gives the student the self-belief to move swiftly to more advanced topics and rapidly improve academic achievement.
