I am an experienced Geography Teacher and Head of Department.
I have been teaching for 9 years and really enjoy making a difference, in particular on a 1-1 basis with students. I have taught the A Level Edexcel board specifically and GCSE AQA, WJEC/Eduqas and Edexcel boards.
As a teaching style, I am calm and collected, wanting to find out what students' strengths and weaknesses are initially and then helping them overcome some of their weaker areas (usually subject content or writing skills). I like to bring in different ways of learning, whether that is using YouTube, Twitter or even Play Doh! Learning needs to be memorable and I have always had a creative streak that comes through when I teach.
With tutoring, I really like to set some goals for students to work on (i.e. essay writing) and teach them the tools to aim for their goal. It's not about telling them the answers, it more about giving them the tools to find the answers themselves.
