A dedicated history teacher who filled with passion and action for anything history-related! Additionally, I enjoy music (mainly rock and metal, but I like a bit of everything at the end of the day) and I'm a keen guitarist. I also enjoy reading and going on long spontaneous walks to freshen the mind.
I have been teaching since 2021. My experience has taught me so much about how people learn and what works best.
At Key Stage 3, I’ve taught a broad range of historical topics to Years 7–9, including the Norman Conquest, the Transatlantic Slave Trade, the British Empire, the Industrial Revolution, and the First World War. I focus on helping students develop core historical skills — such as analysing sources, building coherent arguments, and thinking critically about cause and consequence. My lessons are designed to build curiosity and confidence, laying a strong foundation for GCSE study later on. I also have experience adapting materials for students with varying abilities and needs, including EAL and SEN learners.
At Key Stage 4, I have extensive experience teaching the GCSE History curriculum, particularly with the Edexcel exam board. I’ve helped students prepare for topics such as Weimar and Nazi Germany (1918-1939), the American West (1835-1895), Medicine Through Time(1250-present), and Early Elizabethan England (1558-1588). My lessons focus not just on content but on key exam skills — such as source analysis, structured essay writing, and interpreting exam questions effectively. I’ve run intervention groups, revision sessions, and one-to-one support aimed at helping students boost their grades and approach the exams with confidence.
I take a calm, patient approach to tutoring and work hard to create a learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and admitting when they’re unsure. At the start of each topic or unit, I make sure the student understands the historical context, so they can build secure knowledge on firm foundations.
If a student is feeling insecure in their subject knowledge, that’s never a problem — we work through it together. I break content down into manageable chunks and encourage regular, bite-sized revision. As their knowledge grows, I introduce higher-order thinking skills such as analysis, evaluation, and making substantiated judgments — all of which help improve their extended writing and exam technique.
Above all, I tailor each session to the student’s needs, whether they’re aiming to gain confidence, close gaps in understanding, or push towards top grades.
