I am a 26 year old primary school teacher based in Yate. I am from Ireland but was born in Lithuania.I am extremely passionate about teaching; has been my dream to teach ever since I was a young girl. My hobbies include dancing and reading. I have taught Irish dance privately and have organised my own dance club at University. I am bubbly and friendly, therefore can relate to children.
I have had plenty of experience working with children including babysitting, teaching dance and teaching in a school environment. I have 5 years of experience teaching 3-11 year olds from various backgrounds (private and mainstream). I have also worked in trauma schools which deal with a lot of behavior difficulties. I have also been a camp counselor in a summer camp in Florida working with all different ages.
My teaching revolves around a kinesthetic strategy which is based around learning through a 'hands on ' approach. In combination with visual and/or auditory study techniques, producing multi-sensory learning. Additionally, I focus on learning skills in real- life context through play. Another strategy I use which is vital in a 1-2-1 approach is personalized learning. I use assessment in order to gain information about the current knowledge of learners and to plan future learning. This is vital as each pupil has different approaches they work best with therefore allows me to plan accordingly. I also hope to start using the flipped classroom approach which involves learners using pre-recorded videos which they can practice at any time and those skills can then be reviewed by me during our sessions.
