Hi there, I'm an ex business owner in the bridal wear and tailoring work sector. I have experience with previous tutoring, that I have offered and delivered in the past and really enjoyed it, to children in regards to Maths and English. I still offer this to Primary ages. I also now like to teach Adults and Children/Young People essential sewing skills to get them confident in using a sewing machine and sewing whether its for an interest/ hobby or to make a career of it in the future.

Tutoring Experience

I am a private Tutor with 1 years experience in this area, but 5 years experience as a Teaching Assistant/Group Leader in schools and in holiday camps. I will provide each Tutee with a scheme of work and provide the resources. I happily invite tutees into my home for lessons or in this day and age you might want to choose to learn online with me. I will also give a resource/handout for each student to keep at each stage of the course to help guide them through the sessions.

Regarding sewing, I offer subjects from basic sewing principles, seams and button holes to applique lace applications. Its a beginners course only, so it will supply essential sewing skills, knowledge and inspiration for those looking to do this as a hobby or even go into it as a career. Each session lasts 1 hour and the course runs for 8 sessions.

Regarding Maths and English, it all depends whether you want to build your child's confidence in this area, or whether there are obvious struggles here. I can work for a couple of weeks with you, for a term or two or for the whole academic year. The sessions are 1 hour and you are provided with resources and a scheme of work.

Tutoring Approach

I like to encourage questions all the time, I start with a demonstration with a handout (information sheet) or book and then get the Tutees to engage and learn.
I'm very aware of the different types of learning styles such as: audio, visual and kinesthetic and I try to evolve the teaching around this style to suit the individual tutee.
